Getting on the Water

What better way to discover for yourself the secluded joys of the Helford River than in your own self driver motor boat? Why not come and have your very own pirate adventure; or visit Frenchman’s Creek immortalised by Daphne du Maurier; or have a relaxing day’s fishing; or find one of our many secluded coves for a picnic? The list is almost endless but being your own skipper means the choice is entirely yours.

Motor Boat Hire

All boats are licensed to carry up to 6 people.  We give full instructions, so no boating experience is necessary.  Boats come with a map of the river, fuel and full safety equipment including auto-inflating life jackets for all would-be adventurers. (Where a boat is booked for a number of days, one full tank of fuel will be provided.)  A deposit may be required for reserved bookings and i.d. may be held whilst on the river.

River Trips

If you would prefer to see the delights of the river with someone else being responsible for the driving, then skippered river trips can be accommodated. Please pre-book these so that we may organise your chauffeur and attend to your needs accordingly! For example, if you would like us to provide you with a picnic and/or perhaps a bottle of something chilled or bubbly, then let us know and we will endeavour to make your Helford River trip even more memorable. Please email or phone to discuss. Prices start at £20+vat per person (with a minimum £60+vat charge) for our standard 1 hour boat trip.

Kayaking

We have single and tandem ’sit-on-top’ kayaks available.  These kayaks are inherently stable with no risk of entrapment and are excellent for novice and experienced alike.  The tandem kayaks can carry an extra child between the two paddlers which makes them great for families.  The Helford River boasts fantastic wildlife and there’s no better way to see it than in a silently paddled kayak.  Buoyancy aids provided.

Paddleboard

Try out the latest watersport on one of our stand-up paddleboards.  It’s amazing the miles that can be covered on these and it’s a great way of keeping fit whilst having fun on the water. Buoyancy aids provided

Rowing Boats

We also have a couple of rowing boats available – perfect for those wishing to perfect their oarsman-ship or to simply give you a stable platform from which to see the river or have a floating picnic.  Buoyancy aids provided
